Safety Protocols

 

Environment and Social Distancing

  • Hand sanitizers must be distributed (60-80% alcohol and in accordance to the requirements of the Food and Drug General Authority), placed in prominent places, and installed on the wall such as the entrances of the facility, whether stadiums or club, as well as at the inspection point, training rooms, meeting rooms, corridors, and outside washrooms.
  • Hand soap must be available in the toilets, and hand sanitizer is available at the sinks and at the entrances to the toilets.
  • Any dirt must be removed with soap and water before disinfection.
  • The employer or athlete must pay attention to personal hygiene and keep washing her/his hands with soap and water for 40 seconds or use alcoholic gel (60-80% alcohol) for 20 seconds if soap and water are not available.
  • Sports outfits should be washed immediately after the end of the sports activity, and personal clothes should be allocated to each player for exercises that the players do not share, and they must not leave the facility wearing their sport outfits.
  • Surfaces must be disinfected on a daily basis or every two hours if possible, with disinfectants approved by the Food and Drug General Authority and the instructions shown on the packages must be followed (please see the Guide for Cleaning and Disinfection).
  • When cleaning surfaces in the sports facility, emphasis must be placed on places with most contact such as door handles, running track, fitness equipment’s, seat cushions, elevator buttons, and others.
  • Toilets must be cleaned and disinfected regularly every two hours throughout the working hours. Self-running taps are preferred in the toilets, and an employee should be designated to disinfect the bathroom, especially taps, sinks and door handles after each use.
  • Care must be taken to use new pads and towels for every disinfection process, especially when disinfecting fitness equipment, exercises devices, and tools that have frequent contact or use new tissues if this is not possible.
  • It is preferable to have self-operating doors, and in the event that this is not available, the entrance door and hall doors must be left open to prevent unnecessary contact with door handles.
  • Times of disinfection must be recorded for surfaces and toilets, and a special schedule should be designated for the disinfection of the used fitness equipment and devices.
  • Ensure good ventilation in all places, especially gathering places and toilets, and it is preferable to use natural ventilation and reduce the overall temperature, in halls and meeting rooms in particular. Artificial ventilation is used in addition to natural ventilation if possible.
  • Regularly change or clean air filters of ventilation devices, especially air conditioners
  • Single-use tools should be placed in the sports facility, such as spoons and plates, and customized tools for employees and athletes such as drinking cups or towels should be assigned.
  • Deactivate and disable any touching screens.
  • It is preferred to have no-touch trash and waste bins, and waste must be disposed of regularly.
  • Tools that might be shared by athletes, such as water coolers, coffee makers, food vending machines, and others, should be removed.
  • Employees such as cleaners and ball holders, and not athletes, must wear face masks while working inside the sports facility.
  • Buses for athletes should be disinfected on a daily basis before and after their move to the sports facility, and it is preferable to transport them in their own cars if possible, to prevent overcrowding.
  • Capacity of buses must be reduced so that some seats are empty to ensure social distancing between athletes (please refer to the protocols for health requirements regarding buses).
  • It is preferable for the athletes to bring their personal equipment to the sports facility, such as towels, sportswear, prayer rugs, etc.
  • Social distancing stickers should be placed on the floors, indicating where to stand in the following places:
  • Before the main entrance of the facility when waiting for inspection at the inspection point.
    • In dining rooms.
    • At places of prayer.
    • At toilets entrances.
    • When training in fitness classes.
    • When sitting in the lecture.
    • At press conference rooms.
    • Elevators.
    • Places for holding press conferences for athletes.
    • At the bench.
  • Distance between every chair or fitness devices must be at least one and a half to two meters in order to help with social distancing between athletes.
  • Reduce capacity of the sports facility and the rooms in particular, to ensure the practice of social distancing and leave a safe distance between athletes in general.
  • Limit the number of people using elevators, if any, to ensure the application of the principle of social distancing within the elevator
  • It is preferable to stop the press and media conferences. Alternatively, it can be limited to players and coaches using technical means, or to ensure the practice of social distancing whilst in press conference.
  • Apply the principle of social distancing in sitting on the bench during matches or exercises while reducing technical, health, and sports crews to reduce contact with other people.
  • It is preferable to reduce the movement of athletes between more than one room in the sports facility and confine them to specific rooms.
  • Allow the practice of sports activities for those who are under the age of 15, if the sports facility or the competition is exclusive for this age group (such as the Junior League, or the Junior Martial Games Clubs), and those under the age of 7 must be prevented from entering the sports facility.
  • When setting up camps inside the facility it is preferable for each person to have his/her own room, if two people are staying is the same room the distance between them must be at least 1.5 meters.
  • Athletes must reduce their contact with their colleagues in the group, and must be prohibited from gatherings in the facility, and must commit to social distancing practices as much as possible.
  • It is preferable to close prayer areas or follow the protocols and requirements for mosques.
  • It is preferable to prevent elderly employees or athletes, or those who are suffering from chronic diseases from attending the sports facilities if possible.
  • Children under the age of 15 must be prohibited from attending sports facilities.
  • Gathering at car parks or at the entrances to sports facilities must be prohibited.

Reporting and Monitoring Symptoms

  • With the continuous screening and isolation procedures that occur according to the approved protocols, (Tawakkalna) application is used to ensure the employee’s health status concerning COVID-19 disease. If the employee’s status is positive or in contact with a positive case, all this will appear at the application, will not be allowed to enter the workplace.
  • The employee can return to work after he completely recovers and checking that by updating his status in the Tawakkalna application.
  • An inspection point must be set up at the entrances to the sport facility and before pursuing training for all employees and athletes to have temperature taken with a device approved by the Food and Drug General Authority and questioning them regarding respiratory symptoms (coughing or shortness of breath).
  • Employees and athletes must disclose any symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath, fill out a disclosure form, and apply the measures of protection and safety inside and outside the sports facility.
  • Follow-up the health status of employees and athletes by keeping records of (temperature, respiratory symptoms), and preventing those who appear to have respiratory symptoms or who have a high temperature (38 degrees Celsius or more) from entering the sports facility.
  • Report any case that has a high temperature or respiratory symptoms and is suspected of being infected with Covid-19, specify the details and contact numbers for the case, and call 937 immediately to know the requirements of transferring the case to hospital.
  • In the event of a confirmed case among employees or athletes, the protocols approved by the National Center for Disease Prevention and Control and the Ministry of Health must be applied.
  • Cooperate with the Ministry of Health in the process of monitoring the cases that were in contact with the confirmed case, in order to apply the epidemiological investigation procedures and follow the quarantine procedures in accordance with the procedures of the public health team.
  • Prepare an isolation room for employees in the residential complex to isolate suspected cases until authorities are notified. (Handbook of Health Conditions for Workers’ Homes to Combat Covid-19 Disease).

Awareness and Communication

  • Post awareness posters at prominent places in the sport facility, in transporting buses, and in employee residential complexes and include the following:
    • Methods of the virus transmission and prevention.
    • Raise awareness in regard to hand washing and avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth before washing hands and urging attention to personal care and health care.
    • Follow the etiquette of sneezing and coughing (use of tissue paper and dispose of it immediately, use the elbow by bending the arm).
    • Athletes, journalists and all employees should be educated about Covid-19 virus through official sources, text messages and all possible means of communication on how to prevent virus spread by education on handwashing and sanitization, how to use face masks and other means of protection, as well as education regarding sneezing etiquette.
      Education about the symptoms of the virus and the need to disclose them must be provided.
